County Louth, known as 'the Wee County' and the smallest in Leinster, boasts a distillation scene that's anything but small, with whiskey production flourishing at Listoke, Cooley, and The Great Northern Distillery.

The Louth Whiskey Society hosts regular tastings across the county, inviting people to enjoy, celebrate, and deepen their appreciation of Ireland’s native spirit. Founded by Lorcan Dunne, the society aims to introduce whiskey enthusiasts to the world of whiskey through tastings and events in the region, where they can share their passion for the amber liquid.

Exploring whiskey preferences is often easier with side-by-side tastings. Sampling whiskey here and there, unless you’re a connoisseur, can lead to a fragmented experience. A structured tasting session, by contrast, allows you to refine your palate, make direct comparisons, and enjoy some craic with fellow Irish whiskey fans.

The goal of a whiskey tasting is to savour the spirit in a way that resonates with you—whether that’s through learning its history, discovering flavour profiles, tasting rare whiskeys, or comparing a range of drams to decide which bottles to add to your collection.

At society events, you’ll meet a diverse group with varying levels of whiskey knowledge and experience. We take pride in crafting engaging, educational experiences, knowing that every one of our members once started as a complete novice.

So, whether you’re a seasoned aficionado or enjoy the occasional dram, we extend a warm céad míle fáilte to the Louth Whiskey Society. Sláinte!
